The Upgrade area in the Labb is used to improve your units model. Base units can Mark up into a stronger verson of the same model or Upgrade into a relatated model. An example is the Shade Tree Shade to Shade-mk2 to Shade-mk3 and beyond or Shade to Banshee to Banshee-mk2
Upgrading increases Units Health,Armor,Speed,Veiw range, And Space.
